Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says USDA remains focused on improving the farm economy following several years of higher costs and weaker trade. “When we walked in the door a year and a half ago, the farm economy had seen the greatest spiral down by almost $90 billion in one year, which was 2023,” said Rollins, speaking outside the White House Thursday. “We saw the average cost of inputs had increased close to 40 percent, with some even bigger interest rates. We also saw no new trade deals in four years.” Rollins said that provides important context for the work ahead in protecting farmers and ranchers.”
