Dry weather is taking a toll on crops in the southern Red River Valley. “We are in moderate drought and the beets are high in sugar content, but tonnage is lower,” reports Moorhead-area farmer James Nelson. The dry weather has provided favorable harvest conditions for pre-pile. “It’s nice to be dry once in a while for harvest, but they need a little moisture and grow a little bit.”
