Other required qualifications are an understanding of anaerobic digestion systems, synthesized knowledge of the MN agricultural environment and producer commodity groups, and a basic understanding of fertilizer, biomass fuel and livestock feed requirements. The position is a full-time two-year position that will have a virtual office in Minnesota. The opportunity exists to extend the position beyond two years, dependent upon funding. R.D. Offutt Farms and Syngenta are partnering to create a unique opportunity for college students pursuing a career in agriculture. R.D. Offutt Farms and Syngenta are looking for three interns and the location could be one of three locations: Perham, Park Rapids or Wadena. This internship opportunity will provide selected students with a hands-on learning experience working on real projects and real solutions. The interns will see the vertically integrated farm experience from seed production all the way through the processing of the raw product. Specific duties inlcude assisting with crop development, insect, weed and disease scouting, soil sampling, petiole sampling and social responsibility in agriculture. Requirements include enrollment or attending an approved agriculture program or another program approved in writing by R.D. Offutt Farms and Syngenta; maintain an acceptable GPA and attendance while in the program, strong computer skills, valid driver’s license and agriculture experience preferred.
