The impact of the June 20–21 storm system is still being fully assessed, but early numbers from NDSU Extension show widespread damage to North Dakota’s agricultural sector. NDSU Disaster Education Coordinator Miranda Meehan says Extension agents have been working on the ground to gather detailed data to support recovery efforts. “Due to our presence in every county across the state, NDSU Extension has been tasked with conducting damage assessments to the impacts on individuals and the agriculture industry.” According to Meehan, over 126,000 acres of cropland have been damaged, and the loss of grain storage is expected to impact the state for years to come. NDSU Extension continues to collect information and urges anyone affected to contact their local office for support and assessment.
