The United States will take a phased-in approach as it reopens the border to cattle from Mexico. The border shut down on May 11 due to concerns about the New World Screwworm. USDA has announced the first port to reopen will be at Douglas, Arizona, which is considered the lowest risk based on geography. After the reopening next Monday, other locations will open July 14 and 21. The more vulnerable sites in far southern Texas will open in mid-August and mid-September.
