Foreign ownership of farmland remains a hot topic nationwide. According to a new report from the American Farm Bureau, foreign investors and companies own approximately three percent of privately-held agricultural land in the U.S. Canadian investors have the largest share of farmland with 31 percent. Many policymakers have focused on China, but the Farm Bureau report said Chinese ownership represents just three hundredths of one percent of all of the agricultural land in the United States. That is equal to an average-sized county in Ohio.
