At the end of the calendar year, National Corn Growers Association CEO Jon Doggett will retire. Many things have changed in the 20 years Doggett’s been at NCGA, including the politics in Washington D.C. “That’s one of the reasons I’m leaving. The politics are toxic, mean and nasty and we seem to be running a never ending election.” Doggett came to Washington D.C. in the 1980s and saw bipartisanship could work. “How do we find the bridges and deal with ethanol policy, ag chemicals or how much money we spend in the farm bill? We need to solve those problems.” Once retired, Doggett plans to pursue policy consulting work. “I’m ready for the next chapter of my life.” Hear the interview.
