Soybean and corn harvest may happen at the same time this year. Asgrow Dekalb Technical Agronomist Derek Pruitt says farmers will need to harvest whichever crop is at most risk. “The name of the game is variability. There’s so much variability between crops and within fields. Some have been able to get rains and others haven’t. Farmers will harvest what’s ready when it’s ready.” Pruitt reminds farmers to keep monitoring fields and get those crops before they go down or shatter. “There will be some tough decisions. There are some parts of the field that will be 15 percent moisture and other parts that aren’t far away, closer to 25 and 30 percent moisture. It’s not a day-of decision.” Hear the story.
