The Biden presidential campaign has announced a coalition of 37 individuals who make up its rural council in Minnesota. Granite Falls farmer Tim Velde is part of this group and says agriculture would benefit from a change in leadership. “Specifically, to agriculture, the ethanol waivers have been a huge thing. By handing out all the waivers, the current administration has really hurt the ethanol market and corn farmers.” The trade war with China was also cited as a significant issue. Farmers make up a small part of the population, but Velde believes they can influence the outcome of this election. “I think farmers can have a big impact, not only with their vote, but also by influencing their friends and relatives. Farmers can be a driving force in changing things.”
