On Friday, the USDA officially set an October 30 sign-up deadline for the WHIP+ program. A deadline had not been set previously. At this time, the agency has received more than 133,000 applications for the assistance and paid out nearly $1.4 billion in WHIP+ benefits. Congress approved $3 billion for the program, which means only half of the available funds are paid out at this time. The USDA also said they would announce the details of quality loss provisions soon as well.
