Trade was top of mind as cattle producers from across the U.S. met in Denver for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Summer Business Meeting. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association Vice President Eric Jennings attended the event. Jennings says there is hope for progress to be made in U.S. and Japan trade talks. “Getting past the tariffs is tough. We send a lot of beef to Japan, but we’re under pretty extreme tariffs right now,” said Jennings. “I think we can get something done because both sides want it to be done. The U.S. certainly wants to get beef flowing back into Japan at a lower tariff and I think Japan wants our beef.”
