The corn markets offer the best chance for profit right now. That’s according to Mastering the Grain Markets author Elaine Kub. However, farmers need to market early. “Once insurance prices are set in February, I think that’s going to strongly encourage corn planting versus soybeans.” Kub is not expecting a big change in the acreage mix. “Farmers don’t always necessarily change their crop rotation just because the markets are implying that one day to the next. Private estimates are suggesting a two million switch from soybeans to corn. That seems reasonable.” Kub spoke at the AgCountry Farm Credit Services Marketing Day. Listen to the interview.
