Invasive weeds were the theme of this year’s Wild World of Weeds Workshop. Tom Peters, an agronomist specializing in weed control for NDSU and University of Minnesota Extension, says the idea of invasive weeds does a couple of things. “We’re trying to reintroduce them, and invasive weeds aren’t always perennial weeds and don’t have to be on pasture ground. They could be an annual weed like Palmer amaranth,” says Peters. Gearing up for the 2019 growing season, Peters says the agriculture community has to have a plan when it comes to weed control.
