During the Potato Expo, the new CEO of J.R. Simplot Company, Garrett Lofto, visited with the Red River Farm Network about the future of the company and how trade is impacting the business. Lofto said global demand for frozen potato products continues to grow. “Our projections show this will continue for years to come and so we’re building capacity that allows us to meet that demand.” Opportunities ahead in the next five years include export expansion in Asia. “There’s also demand in China, India and South America,” he said. Lofto was named Simplot CEO in spring 2018 following the retirement of Bill Whitacre. Lofto previously served as president of Simplot’s AgriBusiness group. Listen to the interview.
