Speaking at the American Farm Bureau Federation convention, Kansas Senator Jerry Moran addressed the ongoing government shutdown. Moran says funding the government should not be a tool to achieve political goals. “When there is this kind of impasse and both sides are holding firm, usually, there is someone behind that scenes negotiating a way out and I don’t see anybody negotiating a way out and my prediction is that this lasts a while longer.” Moran says one way to move forward could be by finding common ground on immigration issues, including farm labor.
