The Gulke Group President Jerry Gulke says one of the biggest lessons learned in 2018 was China may not need the U.S., but the U.S. needs China from a demand perspective. “We’re going to have anywhere from 950 million to 1.2 billion bushels of soybeans in stock. We need China to come back to us or we need to get rid of 10 million acres of soybeans.” Soybean acreage could shift for 2019, but there are still unknowns. “To get this thing resolved, somebody has got to not plant or have a bad crop. I’m just a little concerned that the eight to ten million acres we need to get out from under this isn’t going to happen,” says Gulke. “If it doesn’t, we get the crop in the field come May and June. Then, Katie, bar the door if we get another record crop.” Listen to the story.
