Soybean and Corn Advisor President Michael Cordonnier says the hot, dry weather during pod fill is impacting the early planted soybeans in Brazil. “The forecast for central Brazil looks dry. Southern Brazil is going to recuperate with some rain, but only the later maturing soybeans. It’s too late for any recuperation for early soybeans already being harvested.” Cordonnier says early yields in Mato Grosso are also disappointing. “Some are down about 15 percent. Farmers were expecting about 55 bushels. They’re getting 47 bushels due to dry weather. In Brazil in general, about 40 to 50 percent of the soybeans are early maturities.”
