The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows dry conditions across the Northern Plains. The driest areas of North Dakota include parts of Ward, McHenry and Pierce Counties at D2 or severe drought. Other parts of the state, excluding the southeast and parts of southwest, are in abnormally to moderately dry condition. In South Dakota, parts of Edmunds, Brown County, Faulk and Spink Counties are in severe drought. Parts of central and north-central South Dakota are abnormally to moderately dry. The drought monitor also shows northern counties in Minnesota in abnormal to moderate drought.
