In many areas, the corn is under stress from the lack of rain. The number of heat units are above the norm for this time of the year and Channel technical agronomist Derek Crompton says the crop is two-to-two-and-a-half weeks ahead of the average pace of development. “This corn is only about 200 units from denting for a lot of the 80 day corn.” A year ago, stalk integrity was an issue in the drought areas. “Watch your fields closely. Try to get out and harvest as quick as you can.”
