The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association honored Jerry Doan of Black Leg Ranch at McKenzie with its Riding for the Brand Award, which honors at least 65 years of membership. Doan said his family has been involved in ranching for six generations and has served in state and national cattle organizations. His advice for bringing the next generation home: “Create some excitement and get the heck out of the way.”
