A potential U.S. potash deal with Belarus may not provide much relief from high fertilizer costs. StoneX Vice President of Fertilizer Josh Linville said Canada remains overwhelmingly the largest foreign supplier of potash to the United States, while Russia is a distant second. More importantly, Linville said potash isn’t the biggest problem facing farmers right now. “You look at the price of anhydrous: extremely high; you look at the price of phosphate and nitrogen, you look at the price of diesel and land, everything across the board is extremely high.” Linville said production expenses are absorbing any additional revenue from the recent uptick in corn prices.
