North Dakota soybean growers want more details on China’s pledge to buy 25 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans. “The 25 million metric ton guarantee is a step in the right direction,” said Brent Kohls, a North Dakota Soybean Growers Association board member. Kohls represented NDSGA at the farmer roundtable event with Trade Ambassador Julie Callahan. He said the agreement with China is a positive step and the new-crop basis has improved. However, more clarity is needed. “We’re still in a little limbo of what it’s going to take and if there are any teeth in it if they don’t reach the 25 million metric ton commitment.”
