Recapping the Iowa numbers on the Pro Farmer tour, corn yields are estimated at more than 198 bushels per acre. That’s up from 193 bushels per acre last year and 186 bushels per acre for the three-year average. It could be a record year for Iowa soybeans with a pod count of 1,384 in a 3×3 square, up 5.5 percent from last year. “Big yields, yeah; huge yields, no,” said veteran crop scout Kyle Wendland. Wendland cited samples taken in Bremer and Chickasaw counties, where there was wind damage and green snap.
