Pro Farmer crop scouts found a huge corn crop in Minnesota. The yield estimate of nearly 203 bushels per acre was up from 165 bushels per acre last year and a three-year average of 179 bushels. Soybean pods in a 3×3 square totaled 1,247, up more than 20 percent from last year. Pro Farmer Crop Tour Data Analyst Emily Carolan is worried about the disease pressure. “SDS is going to be an issue in these soybeans,” said Carolan. “These beans are going to look different in ten days with the amount of pressure, whole fields were covered in SDS; I think it’s really going to be troublesome.” Southern rust was identified as a problem for corn in Iowa and southern Minnesota.
