A financial assistance package is top of mind for agricultural policy going into the lame duck session. “There’s a lot of concerns about people just lining up financing for the ‘25 crop periods, as crop prices are still projected to be very low,” says Tom Sell, managing partner, Combest Sell and Associates. “And so I think you’re going to see a lot of emphasis on getting this done.” Sell also expects pressure to get a farm bill complete before a new Congress takes over in January.
