Minnesota Soybean Growers Association President Darin Johnson doesn’t expect the farm bill to pass this year. “With the Administration change, there’s too many things are going to be happening and the can will be kicked down the road. If it looks like there is a possibility, we’re going to get out there and certainly put some pressure on and try to get it done.” Johnson says his focus is on an assistance package in the meantime. “The cost of production has increased dramatically where prices are well below our cost of production. We’re going to have to try and figure out some way to bring that gap together and ad hoc programs like that.”
