State Representative John Burkel from Badger, Minnesota was pleased to help stop some extreme policies during the latest legislative session. “There was a bill to stop chick hatching in our schools. That’s just an insane concept. If you are trying to inspire the next vet or someone to take more biology classes or get into ag, the last thing you want to do is inhibit that in the classroom. The other big topic was conversations revolving around the nitrate issue in southeast Minnesota.” Burkel participated in the Minnesota Summer Beef Tour for the first time.
