Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative growers are also crunched for time this harvest, due to heat delays. Red River Farm Network farm broadcaster Randy Koenen is helping his family harvest sugarbeets near Clara City, Minnesota. “Right now, they’re planning on a 20 percent set aside that won’t get harvested. About one-fifth of the crop won’t be harvested. That’s how big the crop is down here.” Koenen says full sugarbeet harvest started at 8 a.m. last Monday. “It’s been going good so far. You couldn’t ask for better harvest conditions.”
