President Biden wants to build more electric vehicle charging infrastructure. If that happens, it could speed up a decline in gasoline consumption, challenging the biofuels industry. Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor addressed the importance of promoting biofuels during the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit. “Thankfully, we’ve supported bipartisan champions from the Midwest who are ready to press the case for biofuels and forge opportunities for growth including Ag Secretary Nominee Tom Vilsack. While the nominee to lead EPA, Michael Regan, has a limited record on biofuels, he certainly doesn’t come to the table with deep anti-ethanol ties.” Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley said the president campaigned on the desire to offer greater use of electric cars. “I don’t have a problem with electric cars, but the reality comes home pretty fast if you’re going to mandate electric cars by 2035 and half of a fleet by 2025, you’re obviously going to hurt jobs.”
