The Senate Agriculture Committee’s farm bill will need 60 votes to advance when it reaches the Senate floor. Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper does not believe those votes are currently there. “Unless Senate Republicans and Democrats can come to some agreement pretty quickly on SNAP and a few of the other contentious items, it’s hard for us to see a farm bill passing the Senate anytime soon, including in the lame duck session.” Yet another farm bill extension remains a possibility. “We think there’s a decent chance that they sort of throw their hands up and kick it to the next Congress to sort out.”
