Agricultural trade is expected to be among the issues on the table when President Donald Trump meets Chinese President Xi Jinping Thursday in Washington. It will be their second summit this year. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the two countries are working on a framework to manage trade in non-sensitive products, potentially including U.S. agricultural goods. “There is a world where you have a relatively small subset of American and Chinese goods that can be traded in a balanced way that are non-sensitive.” The White House says China previously committed to purchase at least $17 billion annually in U.S. agricultural products from 2026 through 2028, in addition to earlier soybean commitments.
