Wheat arriving at Columbia Grain in New Rockford, North Dakota, is showing excellent quality, although yields are disappointing. Commodity Merchandiser Grant Van Nice says the wheat has been dark, with good moisture, test weight and protein. “Some samples have been coming in in the high fifteens, even into the sixteens. I’ve really barely even seen anything under fourteen this year,” Van Nies said. He has been hearing reports of 40- to 45-bushel yields, but says strong quality and improving markets are positives for producers.
