Barnes County, North Dakota farmer Darin Anderson had timely rains earlier in the summer, which helped his crops hang on. However, conditions have changed. “We had caught some rains in mid to late July and August that kind of just limped us by, but the last two weeks they’ve really dried up quite a bit, especially the corn.” Anderson doesn’t expect a disaster, but says corn yields will be well below last year.
