The Bois de Sioux Watershed District was awarded $6 million for a project to hold 20,000 acre-feet of water from the spring snowmelt. The project began in 2022, but construction has been shut down over the past two years due to a lack of funding. With this money, construction plans are in place for 2027. The funding came from the State of Minnesota Flood Hazard Mitigation Grant Assistance Program and is managed through the DNR.
