Trade talks between the neighboring countries fell apart just before midnight Friday. As part of a deal, U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer said the Trump Administration was prepared to open formal negotiations with Canada on the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. There’s no official word on why the negotiations broke down, but Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the U.S. made last-minute changes in the proposed terms that were unfair and called into question the reliability of any deal. One of the priorities for the White House was more access for U.S. dairy products.
