A strong El Niño could bring wetter weather this fall and tighten harvest windows. Nutrien Atmospheric Scientist Eric Snodgrass says the current El Niño is already exceptionally strong. Snodgrass says the moisture situation could change significantly. “We would expect, given typical El Niño-type weather patterns throughout fall, winter, and early spring next year, to likely see that total drought area across the country go from 70 percent now down to likely below 30 percent or even smaller.”
