U.S. retail potato sales totaled $20 billion this past year, unchanged from 2025. Fresh potato sales volume was close to 4.8 billion, the highest level recorded over the past five years. Purple potatoes had the largest volume increase for fresh potatoes, up more than 20 percent. Yellow potatoes had the second-largest market share.
