With the Farm Bill failing to advance out of committee, National Farmers Union Vice President for Advocacy Mike Stranz says lawmakers face major decisions when they return to Washington. Lawmakers could try “to get a farm bill patched together that could pass during lame duck or to start thinking big about 2027.” The current farm bill expires September 30. Stranz says there is “some leeway for a few months there before an expiration really has an impact,” but many major policy questions remain unresolved.
