High fertilizer and diesel prices are adding another challenge as farmers make plans for the 2027 crop. Anhydrous ammonia averaged about $916 per ton in early August, up 16 percent from a year ago. DAP averaged $912 per ton, seven percent higher, while potash was near $500 per ton. Diesel averaged $4.65 per gallon after approaching $5.50 this spring.
