Recent rain in northeast South Dakota may create headaches later this season. “We had four inches two weeks ago and then we got hammered last (Thursday) night,” reports Keith Rekow, Dairyland Seed. The small grain harvest has made progress, but Rekow is worried about the soybeans in these wet fields. “I think the stuff east of Aberdeen will have issues combining because we’re not going to use up eight inches of moisture in soybeans in the next month and a half. There will be some potholes to go around.”
