Friday night’s storms packed a punch across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Winds estimated at 70 to 80 miles per hour damaged a grain leg near Warren, Minnesota, while trees were reported down in Thief River Falls and northwest of Bemidji. The National Weather Service reports quarter- to half-dollar-size hail near Gilby, Manvel, and east of Bemidji. A preliminary tornado was also reported Friday evening near Leonard, Minnesota. The storms brought much-needed moisture to parts of northwest Minnesota. Blackduck received 2.66 inches, Goodridge measured 2.63 inches and Thief River Falls picked up 2.56 inches of rainfall.
