The U.S. Trade Representative’s Office has announced the country allocations for fiscal year 2027 sugar imports. The raw cane sugar quota is 1.2 million short tons raw value. However, USTR didn’t assign all that quota. Nearly 62,000 short tons still need to be allocated before the new fiscal year begins October 1. Only two-thirds of the current quota was assigned to Brazil, giving the U.S. leverage in its current trade negotiations with the South American country.
