The State Senate Agriculture Committee spent two days this past week touring farms and ag businesses in western Minnesota. Senator Torrey Westrom, the lead Republican on the committee, is impressed with the innovation that’s happening in the region. “The first milk processing plant that’s being built new in our state in over 50 years is well underway,” said Westrom. “We were able to tour that as an ag committee. This means more cows, more milk production, more jobs to process that product right here in Minnesota.” That’s the Riverview operation, which is slated to begin operation in the fall of 2027. Ag Committee members also saw a robotic dairy operation at Glenwood and autonomous weed control vehicles at the West Central Research and Outreach Center in Morris.
