Rick Sugden of Sugden Harvesting was cutting wheat in South Dakota when RRFN caught up with him Thursday. “We’re in Gettysburg, working on the west side of the Missouri River. doing wheat that was actually on summer fallow and yielding in the 50’s and on up.” Sugden says the year’s winter wheat crop isn’t matching last year’s yields and there are significantly fewer wheat acres across central South Dakota than in past years.
