After 27 years of service to South Dakota’s oilseed industry, Tom Young retired as executive director of the South Dakota Oilseeds Council. Young served on the council’s board beginning in 1999 before becoming executive director in 2018. Jennifer Scharpe has been named his successor after completing a two-month transition. Scharpe will continue serving as executive director of the South Dakota Wheat Growers Association while also leading the Oilseeds Council.
