North Dakota producers planted a record 2.35 million acres of canola this year, according to USDA. Barry Coleman, executive director of the Northern Canola Growers Association, said the acreage surpassed expectations. “Two-point-three-five million acres is definitely a record for North Dakota, and there’s a lot of excitement in the canola industry right now,” Coleman said. Coleman credited strong yields, higher prices and renewable diesel demand for the increase.
