The House passed its version of the farm bill in late April. House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson welcomed the discussion draft coming out of the Upper Chamber. Thompson said the country needs a modern farm policy that builds on the One Big Beautiful Act that passed last summer. Ranking Member Angie Craig disagreed, saying the Senate proposal falls far short of meeting the needs of family farmers. In her words, ‘Senator Boozman chose the partisan status quo’ by not addressing cuts made to the federal nutrition programs.
