The release of the Senate farm bill text got a quick reaction from the agricultural community. Most of the farm groups praised the latest development and pledged to work with Congress and the Trump Administration to get it across the finish line this year. Other groups see room for improvement. The National Pork Producers Council continues to advocate for a solution to California’s Prop 12, which isn’t part of Chairman Boozman’s bill. The National Farmers Union is hoping the Senate will go further on issues like country-of-origin labeling and year-round E15. E15 is also on the wish list for the National Corn Growers Association, but they want more time to review the language in the proposal.
