As soybean crops continue to develop, farmers may begin noticing yellowing plants caused by iron deficiency chlorosis. “This time of year, we start to see bright yellow leaves, especially on the newest growth,” said John Breker, soil scientist, AgVise Laboratories. “What distinguishes iron deficiency from nitrogen or sulfur deficiency is that the leaves have very bright green veins.” There is little growers can do once symptoms appear, but observations made this season can help future management decisions.
