In central North Dakota, Donny Allmaras said crops in Wells, Eddy and Benson counties are off to an excellent start despite isolated hail and wind damage. “There was a little bit of hail in Maddock country and we’ve had enough wind, of course everybody has, but that’s cut off some beans, particularly some pinto beans. There’s been a little bit of reseeding due to the hail, but other than that corn looks really good, soybeans look really good and the small grains look good as well.” Almers said growing degree day accumulation is running well ahead of normal.
